Creating sufficient and bizarre noise to
scare an offender or robber has been a ploy that has worked for ages.

price tag and they are worth it.
Burglar alarms are such that they can be kept hidden, without the reach
and knowledge of the offender. They have been cost effective so far
because they are easily fitted, need less maintenance and can be
triggered easily even by a child in case of emergency. Now a days
burglar alarms have more safety features and there are some, which emit
human voices also. They can be used with a combination of CCTV devices
and other electronic surveillance equipment for maximum benefit. Audible
alarms for senior citizens who live are also available.
Recently a new kind of burglar alarm,
introduced for homes of senior citizens living alone is a new step
towards security of older people. They directly ring in the nearest
police station. Even in case of any other emergency like burglary,
medical or otherwise it alerts the local police. If the alarm is found
to be effective, it will be a boon to many old people. They are also
useful in case firebreak outs. Most of the fire alarms are fitted in the
wall and need a sharp object to break the glass open.
Burglar alarms should be checked from time to time even if they are not
in use for long. It should not happen that when the emergency arises,
they become redundant. All the members in the family should read
instructions properly. Everyone should be familiar with the drill
required to set up the burglar alarm. In some societies, abroad, a
weekly drill is mandatory for all residents. Unfortunately in India this
is not the case. But city dwelling and feelings of insecurities are
making it necessary for some buildings to have a monthly drill at least.
